This project involved the replacement of air conditioning infrastructure in six Operating Rooms while maintaining the surgery schedule.

When the Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital (MEETH) faced a major challenge in renovating their air conditioning system, they turned to Central. MEETH has 17 outpatient Operating Rooms, all of which are in regular use. One third of them required a significant overhaul in order to maintain the high standard of air quality needed for an OR environment. The overhaul had to be implemented without interrupting service in the 11 remaining ORs.

Central led the design team to create a new air conditioning infrastructure for 6 ORs. Logistical challenges included creating a dependable supply of air conditioning and maintaining proper air exchanges to the 11 working ORs.

Central’s extraordinary planning enabled MEETH to maintain its full operating schedule without interruption – despite the complexity of the large mission-critical construction project.
