Project Overview: Radiation/Oncology Project
This assignment entails three interrelated assignments in and around the Berrie Building on the Englewood campus to enable the Hospital to expand services and provide easier access for their patients. Englewood Hospital hired Central Consulting & Contracting to act as their Project Manager on this assignment.
The first part of the project involves the construction of three linear accelerator vaults and the relocation of radiation therapy to the first floor of the Berrie Building. As with all of our assignments, communication with the staff is very important to the success of this project. As Project Manager, Central is involved in all of the pre-planning, procurement and project strategy. The second part of the assignment involves the demolition of an early 1920’s building and the erection of a 200-car parking deck with the capability to increase the structure to make room for 600 cars. The pre-cast structure is being designed and constructed to ensure that the foundation will be able to hold the increased load.
The final project entails a three floor vertical expansion of the Berrie Building. The fully occupied, 90,000SF structure was erected with the ability for this type of expansion. Each new floor will be 27,000SF with a total of 74,000 GSF. Currently, the first floor of the building is used for Oncology, the 2nd floor for ambulatory surgery and the 3rd floor for out-patient radiology and a breast care center. The breast care center will be moved to the new 4th floor and the new 5th and 6th floor will be used as Medical Office space. All work will be done around this fully occupied building. Central Consulting will work closely with the hospital to ensure that disruptions to on-going operations are minimized .
